Downloading...
BTW; using camtasia to record "Live" is 2x better than to record from a demorec. I'm doing a little movie for BC nowadays, and that's the only method I use.

Loool, do you want to capture direct-x motion while playing? are you serious?. What kind of computer do you have I mean i thought "fraps" was the fastest way, and i cant really play while capturing its so slow for me... thats why i capture demos.... Anyway, just if you are likely to do, please share your experience

I use an amb 2800xp+ with 512 mb ram and a geforce ti4200.
And i really can't see why it should be any more strain on the cpu to record directly than from a demorec?
Anyway, I manage to record to an avi with 50 fps (probably more around 40..) while letting rune run in the background with 512x384 resolution. I've described the whole prosedure over at Runeworld.

Mmm, maybe its not that realated to CPU restrictions but to disk access (not sure), i have a 2400xp+ with a 7200rpm disc... I have to set my rune resolution to 400x300x8 (Setting the color depth to 8 is a must in my setup) and i think i can get around 30 frames per second not sure... Anyway, ill look for your post to test your way of going. Thank you merc!

A big factor is probably the power in your screencard too.. I can run 512*384 with 32 bit medium ("high" too, but I'd like to have a higher fps in the raw AVI material I record. You can't really see the difference anyway) textures, and capture a 500*300 area, with a more or less regular screencard (gf4 ti4200 128mb).
edit: I got the same kind of disc you have. It's pretty big tho ;D (160 gig)

Mmmm dont think my bottleneck is the gf card ATI Radeon 9600 XT is more than enough i guess . Just maybe that capture program youre mentioning is just faster than my fraps 2.0 I still have to test it
